Tucson Police Officer Erik Hite, died Monday, after being shot in the line of duty. Hite was a 21-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a Tucson police officer for four years. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and parents.

Pima County Sheriff deputies Eric Cervantez and Tory Schwartz were also wounded during the pursuit that ended in the live capture of the alleged shooter. We all owe Hite, his family, Cervantez and Schwartz, a debt that cannot be repaid.

The last time Tucson lost an officer was May 26, 2003. In 2003, TPD Officer Patrick Hardesty was killed while chasing a hit-and-run suspect.

On Tuesday, June 10 we joined thousands of others in Tucson to pay our respect to Officer Hite and his family along the route of the funeral procession.
